Freeze dryers follow some steps during drying. First, the material to be dried is frozen under the eutectic point. The eutectic point is the point where the solid-containing solution passes completely into the solid form. After the freezing process, the solvent inside the frozen material is primed by sublimation of the ice crystals. When the capacitor reaches the desired temperature, the vacuum pump is opened to reduce the system pressure. Nearly 90% of the solvent is removed in this step. This is the longest process. Secondary drying takes place under higher temperature and stronger vacuum. Thus, more strongly bonded solvents are also removed. After all these steps, the material having a long shelf life is used in water or solvent when it is used again.
